The Problem of Hell (Parts 2)

KJ and Jay take a trip to hell. (They got a great deal on plane tickets.)

Hell is that wonderful place God sends you to burn forever when you steal a candy bar but die before you say a special prayer of forgiveness.

Is the existence of such a place compatible with the existence of an omni-benvolent (all-good) God? KJ and Jay use a bit of South Park to discuss the existence of the eternal lake of fire.

Oh, and remember: Some of the episodes (like these) are reposts of episodes that were recorded a while back—so ignore the “wired parish” tag, and the occasional slightly out of date info. (I know that South Park is in season 15 now.)

Separation of Church and State (Part 5)

“Separation of church and state” is a bit of a buzz phrase. What does it mean? Where does it come from? What does it entail that government can and cannot do regarding religion? Conservative Christians claim that it is a myth, pointing out that the phrase never appears in the Constitution. Does the Constitution establish such a separation without using those exact words? Is such a separation a good idea?

KJ and Jay will discuss such issues in the looming shadow of the 2010 midterm election. (Yeah, we know…we are a little late. You can pretend that you are back in time. You can also be thinking about the issue in light of the many issues that surround Christmas. What does the separation of church and state entail about court house nativities, school Christmas plays, and replacing Christmas trees with “holiday trees”?

Warning: Because we are now independently operated…and have no sponsors…these podcasts are uncensored. Sometimes, we let the foul language fly. You may want to cover the children’s ears.
