Freedom and Foreknowledge (Part 4)

So let's say God knows the future. Sort of like this, but with better lighting. Does that foreknowledge entail that humans can't be free?

Put another way, if God knows what you're going to do before you do it, are you really making a free choice when you do it?

KJ and Jay uses elements of the Matrix Saga to discuss the incompatibility of freedom and foreknowledge. (Although we try to discuss mainly the first 'Matrix' since the other two kinda sucked.)

This is KJ’s dissertation topic, and you will find that the problem goes much deeper than you think. It may be that rules that lay at the very foundation of reasoning itself entail that we are not free.

KJ has an article on similar issues in Battlestar Galactica and Philosophy.

Freedom and Foreknowledge (Parts 1)

We said we were going to talk about separation of church and state this week…but we won’t. Sorry. The shows are recorded but Jay is slacking on the editing. We will get to them soon, I promise! Be sure to send Jay and email to tell him how much he sucks.

In the mean time, let's say God knows the future. Sort of like this, but with better lighting. Does that foreknowledge entail that humans can't be free?

KJ and Jay uses elements of the Matrix Saga to discuss the incompatibility of freedom and foreknowledge. (Although we try to discuss mainly the first 'Matrix' since the other two kinda sucked…well, Jay thinks they sucked. KJ thinks they are way underrated.)
